Systems & Methods

A Trend-Following Method 

It makes sense to trade in the direction of a trend – but are you prepared to hold through severe drawdowns and long periods of inactivity that go with long-term trend following?  Alex has developed a relatively short-term trend-following method for catching waves that go in the direction of the market tide.  He calls his method “A Pullback to Value.”

Catching reversals: False breakouts with a divergence

Members’ interest in this presentation was so high that we extended it to two sessions, in order to answer all questions and show more trade examples.  We combined both classes into one product, giving you two related classes for the price of one.

A divergence with a false breakout is a pattern that marks some of the most attractive tops and bottoms.  Prices break out to a new extreme, but cannot stay there and pull back.  At the same time an indicator, such as MACD, traces a divergence between the two extremes.

This is Dr Elder’s favorite pattern for catching trend reversals in any timeframe, in stocks and futures.  In this presentation he shows the exact setups he looks for to trade.  He shares his trading rules, including do’s and don’ts.  He presents multiple examples of using this pattern for buying and shorting, including his own trades.

Squeeze Play

All trading vehicles swing between periods of low and high volatility.  Such transitions create some of the best trading opportunities.

Kerry aims to buy quiet, sleepy markets and take profits when they start to boil.  He calls his method of finding low volatility stocks that are ready to break into higher volatility a Squeeze Play.

Squeeze Plays offer low-risk / high-reward trading opportunities. Kerry shows how he finds these setups and describes his detailed trading plan for these conditions.

Fading Extremes - my trading method

This is the third video in a series on Dr Elder’s personal trading methods.  Previous videos dealt with “Pullback to Value” and “False Breakout with a Divergence.”  This method deals with the challenge of fading (trading against) price extremes.  It is a reversal tactic which demands discipline and strong risk management. Presentation includes several examples from Dr Elder’s Trade Journal.

A Tool for Buying: The First Higher Low

The sooner you identify a fresh uptrend, the better your reward-to-risk ratio.  Kerry shows how to look for the first higher low in what can be a newly forming uptrend.  This is one of his favorite trading techniques, and he illustrates his talk with many examples from his own Trade Journal.

Serious money comes from longer-term trades, often with multiple entries and exits. Such trading campaigns are almost always driven by fundamental ideas about technology, a stock group, or an individual stock.  In this presentation Alex walks you through some of his recent campaigns and shares a few ideas that he considers for future campaigns.
